Project Introduction:

"A Silent Place" is an immersive exploration game that delves deep into the themes of self-discovery and loneliness, set against the haunting backdrop of a post-Chernobyl exclusion zone.

Created during a 24-hour Game Jam, this game challenges players to navigate the desolation and secrets of an environment where silence speaks volumes. As players traverse the eerily abandoned landscapes, they'll encounter puzzles and narratives of those who left this place far behind.

The core gameplay mechanics entail radiation levels, radio communication for storytelling and climbing, jumping, picking objects up. The player must not spend too much time in "orange" or "red" zone radiation levels, otherwise their exposure to radiation will deem the mission a failure.

Genre: Narrative adventure, mystery, interactive fiction.

Due to game jam time constraints, a low poly highly minimal art style has been approached. The blend between the foggy eerie atmosphere and effective visuals emphasises the beauty of desolation. Image 3 showcases the mood board, progression shots and idea generation within a Milanote Board.
